Q-SYS Enables Fun and Games at Knoebels Amusement Park

Located in Central Pennsylvania’s Susquehanna River Valley, Knoebels is America's largest free-admission amusement park. It boasts over 60 rides, games, award winning food and a 900,000 gallon pool filled with refreshing mountain stream water. The time to rethink the AV system came during an extensive park upgrade and QSC was ready for the challenge with the Q-SYS™ Ecosystem. Drewe Knaskie, Knoebels’ audio technician, was tasked with finding an AV solution that would fulfill the current requirements while keeping the future in mind. “In my researching of other parks, it became clear that Q-SYS was the perfect solution,” Knaskie explained. “Our current requirements included zone paging and simple user control, but we needed something that would support our potential future needs as well. Because Q-SYS is software-based, we can continue adding features and functionality…

Wycliffe Corporate Headquarters Selects Visionary Solutions and the Q-SYS Platform

Wycliffe Bible Translators provide access to Scripture for more than 3,000 languages with a goal to start translation in the remaining 1,600 living languages by 2025. With its ambitious global mission, excellent audio and video capabilities were increasingly essential for internal staff conferences and other meetings at Wycliffe's corporate headquarters in Orlando, FL. To ensure a quality system that is both feature-rich and easy to use, Wycliffe Media Systems Engineer, Eli Garrett, CTS, upgraded the company's conference room systems with AV encoders and decoders from Visionary Solutions. "I designed the conference room as a live venue, much like you find at a mid-sized church," relates Garrett. One issue with our venue is all the conduit comes to our front-of-house through the floor. Unfortunately, we don't have enough conduit there to accommodate everything we want…

Opus Night Club in Banglore Equipped with QSC

QSC recently completed one of its first WideLine 10 Series line array permanent installs in India, along with the Q-SYS™ Platform, at a new Opus club in Banglore. Opus is one of the largest spaces in this segment with a mezzanine floor and an outdoor brunch area, which is part of the club. Opus was very specific with their requirements and had a clear vision.  They needed a system that could accommodate both live performances and DJ events, which meant the solution needed to provide additional headroom and flexibility for any visiting mix engineer to easily adjust the system, but with enough controls to protect the system. To handle the complex DSP processing requirements, SD Audio selected the Q-SYS Platform. Not only did it provide the flexibility to select and change DSP requirements almost instantly, it allowed them to easily route audio over a standard gigabit…

QSC Shoots and Scores at Derby County Football Club's Pride Park Stadium

Derby County Football Club claims to have the loudest and best sounding stadium in the UK, having installed redundant Q-SYS™ Core 1100 processors, along with QSC CXD 4.3Q amplifiers and QSC Q-SYS I/O Frame processors. Replacing the sound system in any stadium is no simple job, and often comes with a big budget attached. However, Derby County had keen ambitions and the investment paid off, with the Championship Club now boasting a sound system one would normally associate with a rock concert, rather than a football match. Roland Hemming, Principal Consultant at RH Consulting explained the process and thinking behind the installation: “The system at Derby County had been in place for around 11 years, but under the new ownership of Mel Morris, upgrading the audio system was one of a number of projects that he was very keen to invest in.” “Ultimately, Mel’s brief was…

Central Command: Concert Hall Takes Control

In the last decade {Perth Concert Hall in Scotland} hosted a diverse programme of concerts, performances, contemporary art, political conferences and corporate events. In that time the (very busy) tech team has naturally had to adapt to changing client demands and changing technologies. As a result, the venue was home to a variety of different AV systems, many of which didn’t talk to each other. The client brief was to bring everything (legacy equipment and new kit) together. “We had seven different audio systems in the building, and numerous different lighting controls. Just turning on sound and video in one room was a major mission, now it’s all achievable on an iPad.” says Patrick Dalgety, production and technical manager, Perth Concert Hall. And this is where integrator Autograph Sales & Installations enters the story. At the heart of the new install was the…
