The loudspeaker system shall incorporate circuitry enabling crossovers and time alignment as well as the following proprietary digital signal processing (DSP) functions: - Digital Extension and Excursion Processing (DEEP), a non-distorting low-frequency EQ circuit that provides increased low-frequency extension without distortion or over-excursion; - Intrinsic Correction, which evens the dispersion of energy throughout the physical listening area of the loudspeaker. I/O and connectors: The loudspeaker system shall have the following input and output connections: - MIC/LINE IN A connection for Input A shall be via a female hybrid 3-pin XLR/quarter-inch phone (TS or TRS) jack. The impedance and pre-amp gain of this input shall be determined by the setting of the MIC/LINE GAIN switch. - LINE IN B connection for Input B shall be via a female hybrid 3-pin XLR/quarter-inch phone (TS or TRS) jack and/or two RCA (phono) jacks (L and R). An Input B connection made via XLR shall be balanced with an impedance of 38 kilohms. An Input B connection made via quarter-inch phone shall be unbalanced with an impedance of 19 kilohms. An Input B connection made via RCA shall be unbalanced and have an impedance of 10 kilohms. If both L and R RCA jacks are used, their signals shall be summed to mono. - Direct Output A shall be a line-level signal from Input A that may be accessed via a male 3-pin XLR jack. - Direct Output B shall be a line-level signal from the hybrid XLR/quarter-inch jack of Input B without the signal from the L and R RCA jacks. Direct Output B may be accessed via a male 3-pin XLR jack. - LINE OUT shall be a mix of the line-level signal that is output from the Gain A knob with the line-level signal that is output from the Gain B knob, which shall sum the signal from the hybrid jack with the signal from the L and R RCA jacks. Line Out may be accessed via a male 3-pin XLR jack. - REMOTE GAIN connection shall be via a 3-pin "Euro" jack; - AC INLET connection shall be a latching IEC connector that takes a V-Lock power cable (included) or a standard replacement 18 gauge IEC power cord. Controls and indicators: The loudspeaker system shall include the following controls: - POWER switch shall be an on/off switch for the loudspeaker system electronics; - MIC/LINE GAIN switch shall select the signal type (microphone or line-level) accepted by Input A, as well as the impedance of the input and the amount, if any, of additional gain provided by the pre-amp. When the MIC/LINE GAIN switch is in the 0 (0dB) position, no pre-amp shall be engaged, and Input A shall accept balanced line level signals at an impedance of 38 kilohms via XLR connector, and unbalanced line level signals at an impedance of 19 kilohms via quarter-inch connector. In the remaining positions of the MIC/LINE GAIN switch, a preamp shall be engaged. When the switch is in the 12 (+12dB) position, Input A shall accept balanced line level signals at an impedance of 10 kilohms via XLR connector, and unbalanced line level signals at an impedance of 5 kilohms via quarter-inch connector. When the switch is in the 24 (+24dB) position, Input A shall accept balanced mic level signals at an impedance of 2.66 kilohms via XLR connector, and unbalanced mic level signals at an impedance of 1.33 kilohms via quarter-inch connector. When the switch is in the 36 (+36dB) position, Input A shall accept balanced mic level signals at an impedance of 660 ohms via XLR connector, and unbalanced mic level signals at an impedance of 330 kilohms via quarter-inch connector. If the switch is set to 24 or 36, the Mic LED indicator shall be lit. - GAIN A knob, which shall set the amount of signal that is sent to the amplifier and to the Line Out jack from a microphone or line-level source connected to Input A via the hybrid MIC/LINE IN A jack; - GAIN B knob, which shall set the amount of signal that is sent to the amplifier and to the Line Out jack from the summed line-level sources connected to Input B via the hybrid LINE IN B jack and/or the L and R RCA jacks; - LF Mode switch, which shall select one of three low frequency modes, either DEEP (for Digital Extension and Excursion Processing), EXT SUB for when the loudspeaker system is used in conjunction with an external subwoofer, or NORM (neither of the above); - HF Mode switch, which shall select one of two high frequency modes, either VOCAL BOOST, which boosts presence for greater intelligibility when the loudspeaker system is used for voice only, or FLAT (no presence boost) for reinforcement of full-range music; - Front LED switch, which shall select whether the front LED tracks the rear-panel Power LED or the rear-panel Limit LED, or is off. The loudspeaker system shall include the following indicator LEDs: - POWER shall indicate that the power switch is in the ON position and the unit is not in Standby; - STBY (Standby) shall indicate that the loudspeaker system is in standby mode, which conserves energy when the unit is not in active use; - LIMIT shall indicate that limiting has taken place to avoid damage to the amplifier or loudspeaker; - MIC shall indicate that Input A is set to operate with the signal from a microphone; - SIGNAL A shall indicate the presence of signal at the hybrid Input A connector; - SIGNAL B shall indicate the presence of signal at the hybrid and/or RCA Input B connectors; - Front LED shall track the rear-panel Power LED, the rear-panel Limit LED, or be off, depending on the position of the Front LED switch.
