Commissioning Goes Remote with Q-SYS Ecosystem

Nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Uinta Mountains in southwest Wyoming, Uinta County School District #1 enrolls just under 3,000 students. As discussions for a new boardroom progressed with AV integrator Performance Audio, geographical location and budget concerns necessitated the need for a fully remote design and commisioning process. This made the Q-SYS Audio, Video and Control Ecosystem the perfect fit for the job. A Q-SYS Core 110f Unified processor manages networked audio and control for the install. “We immediately knew that Q-SYS would be the best choice for the school district,” explained Jake Peery, Install Manager and System Designer at Performance Audio. “By deploying an integrated audio and control processor, we significantly cut down on programming costs before we even started the project. Removing the need for additional control processing…

QSC GX Amplifiers Power the Great American Legacy of Rock-Ola Jukeboxes

TORRANCE, CA (February 27, 2020) — [De, Es, Fr] — If music is meant to be shared, no means of sharing it has endured quite like the jukebox. In turn, no brand embodies the jukebox like Rock-Ola. The name implies rock music only by happy coincidence. It’s actually the name of the founder, David Cullen Rockola, who started by manufacturing coin-operated scales in 1927 and moved into amusement machines shortly thereafter. When Alexander Walder-Smith bought the company just over a year ago, he was as passionate about Rock-Ola’s history of American ingenuity as he was about sound quality. One of his first orders of business was to specify QSC GX Series power amplifiers as the heart of every new Rock-Ola jukebox.  “I had been a customer of Rock-Ola for about 20 years, supplying their jukeboxes to the market in the United Kingdom,” explains Walder-Smith. “I was very aware of…

Q-SYS Takes Control (and Audio) of Events at the Winnemucca Events Center

The Winnemucca Events Center, located in north-central Nevada, houses a popular multipurpose space that accommodates up to 5,000 people and shelters a retractable seating system. Winnemucca’s flexible interior hosts everything from car shows and rodeos to local high school graduations and sporting events. Realizing that the aging AV infrastructure needed an overhaul, Winnemucca brought in Boise-based integrator, Focus AV Solutions, who chose the Q-SYS Ecosystem to provide network audio and control throughout the venue. Focus AV chose the Q-SYS because it combines audio, video and control (AV&C) in a single processor. This significantly reduces hardware costs and results in less programming time as there is no need for separate control processors. A Q-SYS Core 110f handles the AV&C processing for the venue. This includes acting as the audio DSP for event sound…

QSC Rocks the House that Vans Built

CHICAGO, IL (September 25, 2019) – [De, Fr] – To skateboarders and musicians alike, Vans means more than footwear — the brand is a cultural institution that represents creative expression, urban grit, and independent spirit. Though the company is best known for their Warped tour (now in its 25th year), the more intimate House of Vans events bring together bands, DJs, visual artists, and skaters for concerts, workshops, and art installations at their Chicago and London venues with pop-ups from Detroit to Hong Kong. For these, Vans’ North America Lifestyle Events Manager Chuck Radue insists on live sound products from QSC, notably the TouchMix-30 Pro digital mixer, KW153 and K12.2 active loudspeakers, and KW181 active subwoofers. Given the athletic and kinetic nature of the events, the first feature Radue flags as crucial is the ability of the TouchMix-30 Pro to be…
