Q-SYS Designer Software:  Support Policy

QSC strives to bring new software solutions and feature updates to better service our customers. To maximize business performance, you are encouraged to transition systems to the latest Q-SYS Designer Software release.

To ease the transition period from the most recent prior to the current version, QSC will provide technical support, on a best-effort basis, on the most recent prior release of Q-SYS Designer Software (annotated as “End of Life – Supported”) for a period up to twelve (12) months.  After twelve months, the prior software version will no longer be supported by QSC.

Version 9

New Products

Q-SYS Video

  • Live Video Preview on Q-SYS User Control Interfaces: Display realtime Q-SYS Mediacast streams from Q-SYS cameras on Q-SYS TSC Series Gen 3 touch screens and the Windows-based UCI Viewer application at up to 30 fps. Vast improvement from previous capabilities (1 fps for cameras, no network video endpoint preview support)
  • Adjust TTL Controls for Video Streams in Q-SYS Core Manager: Allows for customization of the ‘Time-to-Live’ value for multicast camera and video endpoint streams.
  • Improved Image quality for NC Series: New default values for Q-SYS NC Series cameras improve image quality across a variety of lighting settings.
  • Improvements to AV Bridging Auto Privacy

Q-SYS Control

  • New CSS Render Styles: allow for more sophisticated customization of user control interface (UCI) controls. This feature allows for individual styling of each element of more complex controls, such as setting the background color and indicator color of meters based on how a user is interacting with it.
  • New Multi-State Trigger Control Type: allows for more advanced buttons that change their appearance and functionality based on the programmatic state of the control. This allows for more unique states in a single control that go well beyond what a typical trigger or toggle button can offer.
  • Runtime SVG generation: New LUA library enables programmers to draw runtime SVG graphics and display on a Q-SYS touch screen controller. This can enable a number of applications, such as visually monitoring WAV forms from live audio feeds.

Additional Features

  • The Audio Delay Component now allows for entry and display in distance (US or Metric units) and is adjusted for temperature (US or Metric units).
  • Services can now be advertised via mDNS using Lua.
  • Adds support for integrating device control features that utilize Dante GPIO (via DAPI) with LUA.

Important Notice for the Core 110f

For installations utilizing the Core 110f’s on-board AV USB bridge, the cable infrastructure between the Core 110f USB device port (Type B) and the PC’s host port (Type A) must be USB 3.0 compatible in order to take advantage of the improved camera streaming and USB video bridging performance. If you choose to use USB 2.0 infrastructure after updating the Q-SYS Designer Software, bridging performance will be limited to 540p.

Note that this does not affect other Q-SYS bridging devices.

Featured Updates

New Products

  • Start incorporating the new Q-SYS NC Series conference cameras into your designs.

Improved USB Video Bridging & Camera Streaming

Q-SYS Designer Software v9.3 introduces a simple, interoperable network streaming technology that brings higher quality, low-bandwidth IP streams to Q-SYS.

  • Provides single IP Stream from your Q-SYS camera to the Q-SYS Video Bridging device.
  • Reduced video latency, which in turn reduces potential for audio visual synchronization issues.
  • Q-SYS USB bridges now decode video streams and scale appropriately for the host PC application.
  • Note: This new streaming technology will enable even more upcoming Q-SYS video streaming capabilities. (Stay tuned!)

Q-SYS Control

  • UCI Sharing: Import and export user control interfaces (UCIs) from QDS for simple sharing of UCIs.
  • HID Conferencing Support for Q-SYS I/O-8 Flex: Route HID signals (keyboard, PC media controls, UC platforms) when a remote computer is connected to the I/O-8 Flex.
  • Designer Asset Manager: Filter, Arrange, and Sort the list of available assets to quickly locate what you need.

Q-SYS Reflect Enterprise Manager / Core Manager

  • Better Asset Tracking: Q-SYS Product Serial number and firmware are now reported for native Q-SYS Products and can be viewed in Asset Viewer (Enterprise Manager only).
  • Additional improvements: You can now re-size and re-order columns in Core Manager (Status, Event Log) and Enterprise Manager (Alerts & Notifications, Audit Log, Assets, System > Status, System > Event Log).

Q-SYS Audio

Domain-based calling supported on Q-SYS Softphone: Allows for greater flexibility with PBX devices and network configurations.

Expanded Dante Domain compatibility:

  • Software-Based Dante Channel Groups are now shown in Dante Controller when the hosting Q-SYS Core processor is enrolled into a Dante Domain (Requires Dante Domain Manager v1.2.0.13 or later).
  • Software-based Dante can also be enrolled into a Dante Domain using the hosting Q-SYS Core processor’s IP address, which is beneficial when automatic discovery or enrolling by name is not possible.

Featured Updates

Increased security and integrity for Q-SYS

  • Implements cryptographic QSC digital signatures for all subsequent Q-SYS Core OS Platform updates, which protects your system from the installation of illegitimate or potentially unsafe firmware.

Note: Firmware signing is a requirement for cloud-based firmware updates via Q-SYS Reflect Enterprise Manager. If you plan on future remote updates, your Core processor must first be updated to Q-SYS Designer Software version 9.1.0 or higher.

Control Updates

  • Remap UCI controls (in Beta): Provides a quick and painless way to reassign control IDs for multiple UCI controls from a single dialog box. This tool eliminates the need to remap controls on an individual basis, which is especially useful when duplicating UCIs across an organization.
  • HTML5 UCI Viewer improvements: Including the ability to dynamically change a style via UCI Style Controller.
  • Advanced TSC-G2 touch screen support notice: Q-SYS Designer Software v9.1.2 will be required to support any TSC-G2 touch screen models that ship after August 1, 2021. A notice will be included in the product package for any touch screen that requires this firmware.

Video Updates

  • New AV Stream Router component: Similar to the Q-SYS camera router, this new component simplifies designs with larger quantities of Q-SYS network video endpoints by letting you route multiple AV streams to multiple destinations with a single video matrix.
  • PTZ manual focus for PTZ-IP conference cameras: The Status/Control component for both the Q-SYS PTZ-IP camera and I/O-USB Bridge now accept manual Camera Focus values, which can also be saved in Snapshots or used in conjunction with Control pins.
