Ethernet Swtiches
Q-Sys utilizes a standards based Layer-3 Gigabit Ethernet implementation. As such, it depends on correctly configured Gigabit Ethernet switches.
Below are two lists of switches. The first, titled “Qualified Switches”, is a list of switches that have been tested and qualified for use with Q-Sys. The second, titled “Non-Qualified Switches”, is a list of switches that do NOT meet the requirements for use with a Q-Sys system. There may be other switches that don't meet the requirements that are not on this list. These lists are dynamic, QSC continues to test additional switches and add them to their respective lists; check back for additions and updates.
Listed switches are tested with one Q-Sys core and one switch. In complex networks switches may be inadvertently configured such that connectivity issues arise even if qualified switches are used. The Network section of the Q-Sys Help Files provides details on switch setup and configuration. Additionally network performance requirements are available for download at http://www.qsc.com/support/library/notes/Q-Sys_Q-LAN_app_note.pdf. It has been our experience that a Q-Sys system deployed on a network meeting these requirements will function properly.
